Litter Control

Reasons why people litter:

• Trash has already accumulated in the area
• They feel no sense of ownership of the property
• They think someone else will clean up after them

 
7 Sources of Litter:

• Motorists (including boaters)
• Pedestrians
• Improperly containerized commercial refuse products (dumpsters)*
• Improperly containerized household refuse
• Loading/unloading docks and areas
• Uncovered vehicles (pickup trucks)
• Construction and demolition sites

*Put the lid on or the wind will re-distribute the trash as litter.
