Phone Book Recycling Drive
Old phone book directories can become a landfill nightmare. An average of 660, 000 phone books end up in landfills. Approximately 540 million telephone directories are distributed annually. In Carbondale, we have 3 phone book distributors therefore there's a need to recycled old or unsold directories.
Keep Carbondale Beautiful hosts a collection drive during the winter once new directories are distributed. This year's local drop-sites are: Kroger, Schnucks and Arnold’s Market. Watch for details at these locations. Collection boxes will be regularly picked up by volunteers and taken to Southern Recycling. Anyone interested in volunteering, please contact Keep Carbondale Beautiful.
Note: You can always recycle phone books at home along with other paper recyclables or drop them off at Southern Recycling at your convenience.
