Green Earth, Inc. Pyles Fork Preserve Cleanup

Keep Carbondale Beautiful partners with Green Earth,Inc. each spring and fall to beautify Carbondale by cleaning up Pyles Fork Creek. This stream is a major drainage for the eastern half of the city and thus collects all the litter that washes down storm drains and into the creek directly. Pyles Fork is a tributary of the Big Muddy River, which empties into the Mississippi and eventually the Gulf of Mexico. So we are playing a big part in keeping our country's waterways clean!

We typically have a force of 50 volunteers collecting up to 1,000 pounds of litter at these cleanup events. The Southern newspaper wrote about our efforts in 2017.
