Our inaugural Dash For Trash in 2020 was a great opportunity to gather responsibly and pick up litter.
We wanted to thank our sponsors again and most importantly all the wonderful people that came out to help us Keep Carbondale Beautiful!

We plan on hosting another Dash For Trash motorcycle event in 2022! Keep an eye out!

Group Cleanups

Keep Carbondale Beautiful welcomes individuals or groups that are interested in community service to join in one of our scheduled cleanups. Other group cleanups can be scheduled to suit the needs of a community or student group. You choose the time and we can agree on a location within the city  in need of cleanup. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. To register your group for a cleanup, please contact Keep Carbondale Beautiful at keepcb1326@gmail.com or (618) 525-5525. Read safety guidelines and check out a safety video.

A littered site attracts more litter, so removing litter promotes beautification.

Remember, when picking up litter, you can recycle too!

Safety First
  • Dress for visibility and protection: bright colors, long pants and long sleeves; gloves; comfortable leather shoes or boots; sunscreen and hat.
  • Carpool and park clear of the road.
  • Break into work-groups of 2-3 people.
  • Daylight hours only - early morning to avoid summer heat; early afternoon in cold weather.
  • If possible, work facing oncoming traffic.
  • Do one side of the road at a time.
  • Wear gloves - your own leather work gloves or rubber gloves from KCB.
  • Watch out for broken glass and other dangers.
  • Notify police if you find weapons or suspected toxic substances.
  • Stay alert - eyes and ears open to environment (no earphones or earbuds).
  • WATCH A SAFETY VIDEO, esp. before working on route 13 east or west of town.
